MY PRAYER FOR THE WORLD

I take refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, the Sangha & the Tao...

May any benefit that comes from this meditation be shared outwardly in all directions to all beings & help bring about a positive change to this world & help to end to all suffering...

May I be free from greed, hatred, delusion & ill will....

May I follow the 5 precepts to the best of my ability....

May I look for & take any opportunity to help another being in need....

May I always be mindful, wise, kind, compassionate, empathetic, patient, understanding, forgiving, generous, considerate, courteous, helpful, truthful, timely, authentic, honest, merciful, gracious, humble, grateful, appreciative, openminded & loving in my speech, thoughts & actions

May all beings be happy, May all beings be at ease, May all beings feel safe, May all beings be healthy, May all beings be free from suffering...

ACKNOWLEDGMENT

In the stillness of practice, I have come to see that the labels I once carried—the "privileges" of my birth, my gender, and the history of my ancestors—are both a heavy burden and a profound illusion. From a Buddhist perspective, the "identity" I was born into is not who I am, but it is the "karma" I must now work through.

As someone who has renounced those worldly statuses, I recognize that my previous position in the world was built on a foundation of suffering for others. My heritage is not just a story of "success," but a collection of attachments and actions that caused "dukkha" (suffering) across generations.

I no longer view this responsibility as a personal "guilt" to be carried, but as a call to "karuna" (compassion). To truly renounce my privilege is to stop centering my own feelings of "not feeling great" and instead focus on the interconnectedness of all beings. The pain of the "colonizer" is a small ripple; the pain of the "colonized" is a vast ocean.

By letting go of the ego that identifies with being "white," "male," or "privileged," I can finally begin the work of "ahimsa" (non-harming). I am responsible for the path I walk now—not to cling to the status I was given, but to use this human life to dissolve the structures of craving and aversion that my ancestors helped build.
